Things I learned While Trying to Hitchhike in Denmark

Hitchhike attempted from Copenhagen to Aarhus.

1. Don't. Or, start early and allow for time. Or, pick shorter, incremental destinations. Or, plan ahead and ride share.

2. Make a sign with your destination. A few people did slow down and showed us that they were not going to Aarhus.

3. Smile and have a good time. In general, people were friendly; we received many smiles and honks.

4. Hitchhiking partners are very important. You will have plenty of time to sing, chat, be silly...But, if your companion has crazy long red curly hair that makes him look crazy, do try to encourage him to cut it.

5. Go to the "best" place, not just the nearest. In other words, don't let Mads talk you into walking for 40 minutes in the blazing sun just to save 48 crowns.

6. And in the end, plan B (buying train tickets) always works.
